The Purcell School Symphony Orchestra perform Ravel’s magical suite of pieces inspired by the Mother Goose tales, Wieniawski’s second violin concerto, one of the greatest of the Romantic era, with its moving melodies and lush harmonies, and Mahler’s fourth symphony, built around a single song, “Das Himmlische Leben” (“The Heavenly Life”), sung in its entirety by a solo soprano in the fourth movement.

The Purcell School is one of the UK’s leading specialist music schools and holds the UNESCO Mozart Gold Medal in recognition of its unique contribution to music, education and international culture. Alumni include Oliver Knussen CBE; Catrin Finch; Yevgeny Sudbin; BBC Young Musician of the Year winners, Nicholas Daniel, Lara Melda and Martin James Bartlett.
